Metrolink website--With the agency's website still blocked by an emergency alert, Bottleneck Blog reader Dana Gabbard found the archived Metrolink website that you can access by going to http://209.79.237.36/. The archived site has schedules and other information about the agency and who the people are that oversee it.

No sooner after I said that, their web site has decided to work again.

I don't know if the Metrolink web site is 'blocked" more than just the server completely failed. A half hour after the incident, the web site didn't load. An hour after, there was a message that said "Please try again later" with the usual template. Then they put up the emergency template another half hour after that, and another half hour or so before it actually said anything useful. Board minutes show that the Metrolink board has complained about how useless the web site is at delivering actual information during one of the usual train vs. car incidents, much less a tragedy such as this one. This is why they've resorted to the Twitters of the world to do what their web site should do.

One small caveat is that site was archived about a year ago and the agency is regularly tweaking their schedules. You might want to confirm the information on the site by calling the metrolink information line: 800-371-5465 (you can talk w/their computer for schedules on the various lines).

Kudos to Steve for his hard work covering this very sad event.
