Understatement of the day
I'm at Metro's executive management committee meeting and it's as
thrilling as it sounds.
They are chatting about the sales tax increase effort and the squabble in
Sacramento over how the money may be spent across Los Angeles County.
Said Metro chief Roger Snoble: "There are a lot of different arguments
over what geographically balanced means."
That's right. My addendum: Everyone thinks their traffic stinks the
most. More later.

Years ago the late Tom Whittle, head of the Torrance Transit system, gave me a teaching session on transit funding and the mysterious FAP. One thing he pointed out is Torrance is #2 in the county for generating sales tax revenue, thanks to Del Amo Mall. So equity is a concept that one can define many different ways.
One problem is our contemporary electeds at various levels, despite the efforts of SCAG and Mobility 21, are not used to working toward regional consensus. And we lack the sort of deal makers of the Bradley and Kenny Hahn era that made Props A & C possible.
