Ramping up, July 28

Hi folks. I'm out-of-town Monday and Tuesday this week, but will be back and blogging away about the sales tax, gas prices, bike racks and all sorts of other transportation-related fun on Wednesday.

Some of my colleagues may be doing some light posting here today and tomorrow. Of course, there's plenty of material you can scroll through from earlier this month and in the archives.

In the meantime, feel free to leave any suggestions for the blog or story ideas on the comment board attached to this post. See you soon...and I should have plenty to report after I return from this supposedly transit- and bike-friendly town up north.

Dan,

Are you sure those weren't the bike racks themselves? I have seen some bike racks look like stripped bikes.

Perhaps you could look at the indiscretions of one of the Congressmen protesting the lack of "equity" in the sales tax proposal, some of which are actually relevant to his protest:

Hi Steve,

Hope you are enjoying your trip. When you return to this supposedly transit- and bike-unfriendly town down south, please find out why one of the two left turn lanes from east bound Wilshire to northeast bound Big Santa Monica is now being closed every rush hour afternoon and post the story on your blog. Thanks.

Speaking of bike racks. I was thinking of riding my bike and locking it at Allen station but when I got off the Gold Line the other day at Allen, there were three bike frames locked to the rack - just frames, no handlebars, no wheels, no cranks or seats - totally stripped. So now I'm not so sure about locking my bike up there.
