Bottleneck Bulletin: Why the commute into downtown from the east and south was so bad this morning: A motorcyclist died in a crash that blocked several lanes of the northbound Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) north of Olympic Boulevard. The 25-year-old man was not immediately identified by authorities. The crash initially closed three lanes of the 5 Freeway, and only one had reopened as of 9 a.m. as the coroner's staff investigated, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jose Nunez. Shortly after 10 a.m. authorities reopened all lanes to traffic and canceled the SigAlert that had been called. -Molly Hennessy-Fiske
