The Bottleneck is back
Over the last year and a half, Times City Editor Shelby Grad has done a heroic job keeping this blog going while juggling a myriad of other duties. Now it’s my turn.
Some of you may have read a weekly feature I wrote for the paper under the moniker “Road Sage.” That feature is now this blog -- and instead of waiting until Mondays, a steady diet of transportation news, nuggets, links, maps, construction alerts, interviews, photos and observations will be posted here throughout the week. Transportation articles will still appear in the print version of The Times, but the ingredients to those stories will often be posted here first.
One simple request: I need your help. Shoot me an e-mail with your thoughts, ideas, questions, rants, photos. I want this blog to be informative. I am also determined to make it fun, whether the topic is driving, taking mass transit, cycling or -- gasp -- walking.
I’m presently looking for nominees for “Pothole of the Week," which I'd like to make a regular feature. If you want to nominate your favorite crater, send me a photo (in the JPEG format) and brief, poetic description with the exact location. The e-mail is steve.hymon@latimes.com.

welcome to the Blog, Steve
your work at the Times is often brilliant.
given that traffic and transportation are some of the most important issues facing this city, your involvement is a true bright spot.
cheers
