Even with L.A.'s budget crisis, drivers must still turn left

Still no money for the "subway to the sea." But the new austere L.A. city budget does offer minor bright spots for commuters, according to The Times' city-county team: "The transportation budget would receive 7% more money, some of which would be used to install left-turn signals. And the Bureau of Street Services would see its budget go up 3%, allowing it to repair 60 additional miles of streets."

This is truly disappointing and embarassing,
that while other cities and countries are developing state-of-the-art, technologically advanced mass transit systems, Los Angeles still stubbornly sits, with no site in progress, on its cars, freeways and pollution, while still(!) building no reliable subway system!
When will we finally start catching up to the rest of the world?
When will we stop wasting time on those useless numerous "studies" and "environmental reviews" and then more studies, studies, and studies, and actually start BUILDLING a rapid transit system!
Shame on Los Angeles!
