All lanes of the 5 were open this morning (except the truck lanes). This averts the "Black Monday" traffic nightmare many feared.

Will they have the lanes reopened by Thanksgiving? The amount of traffic in and out of the LA area that weekend will be insane.

SCRRA, not only did Metrolink add cars, they added more trains:

Metrolink will continue operating longer trains and service added on Monday October 15, 2007 on the Antelope Valley Line to offer a commuting option after the closure of the I-5 truck bypass tunnel this past weekend.

Southbound trains 202, 204 and 206 (the 5:10 a.m., 5:50 a.m. and 6:23 a.m. departures from Lancaster respectively) have one or two additional cars.

Additional trains will contiune operating between Via Princessa and Los Angeles Union Station during the midday period. [Train 210X departs Via Princessa at 9:15am and arrives in Los Angeles at 10:15am; Train 212X departs Via Princessa at 11:00am and arrives in Los Angeles at 12:00PM]

Santa Clarita Transit and Antelope Valley Transit monthly passes will be continue to be accepted on Metrolink trains during this emergency period.

Santa Clarita Transit has opened emergency overflow parking for Metrolink commuters at the following locations:
- Saugus Speedway
- 6th Street and San Fernando Road

Shuttle bus service will be provided from Saugus Speedway to the nearest Metrolink train station. 6th Street and San Fernando Road is in walking distance (one short block) to the Metrolink station.

Passengers are encouraged to carpool or be dropped off at Metrolink stations as parking may not be available.

TIPS FOR FIRST TIME PASSENGERS:
- Allow plenty of time to arrive at your station and purchase your ticket.
- Tickets are available from onsite automated ticket vending machines. Machines accept cash, credit cards and most debit cards.
- Valid Metrolink tickets are also good for most connecting transit buses as well as METRO rail services (Red, Gold, Blue, Green and Purple Lines). Some express lines require payment of a surcharge.
- To find your nearest Metrolink station, click here for our station locator. Enter your address and then click on a red station marker for the station address. You can also click on the link in the station address pop-up for driving directions from the address you input.

This is is going to cause traffic problems until the truck lanes are re-opened (in several weeks???)

What????

Going to cause traffic problems. The 5 already had traffic problems, truck lanes or not.

Did everyone forget about the Metrolink option? They added cars to morning trains and most were standing room only today.

yes, this is good news. But let's not forget that we went from 3 car lanes PLUS 2 truck lanes to 3 lanes for everybody.

This is is going to cause traffic problems until the truck lanes are re-opened (in several weeks???)
