Blue Line crash
A vehicle collides with the Blue Line:
Four people suffered minor injuries today when a vehicle and a Metro Blue Line train collided near downtown Los Angeles, officials said. Paramedics were sent to Flower Street and Washington Boulevard at 11:10 a.m., said Diana Igawa of the Los Angeles Fire Department. No one was injured on the train, Igawa said. The circumstances of the collision were under investigation. (CNS)

and of course, all the projects being built ( exepct a subway extension hopefully), are at grade, meaning, there's going to be accidents like this happening all over.
Years ago didn't they largely remove locomotives and train tracks from street level grades in cities to eliminate accidents?
Don't we learn anytthing from history?

Just another horse's rear end who tried to beat the train and broke the law. No smarter or less troublesome than those fools who run red lights.

This is non news when compared to the number of people who DIE on our freeways.

Worth doing again...
Posted on the the Daily News Blog "Along for the Ride" last friday:
"Authorities issued a whopping 600 citations to pedestrians and motorists Friday morning during a clamp down of illegal train track crossing along Metro and Metrolink tracks.
"Despite ringing bells and flashing lights, some people cross the tracks when trains are coming, said Jose Ubaldo, Metro spokesman.
""People think it's a game," he said.
"It all happened along tracks for the Blue Line and Union Pacific trains that run parallel from downtown Los Angeles to around Metro's Rosa Parks Station in Wilmington, a transfer point between the Blue and Green lines.
"Tickets for each offence costs $177 and were issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Union Pacific Police Department and Metro security staff, Ubaldo said."
