Man with machete shot by CHP officer

10fwy Heads up on this bizarre story impacting downtown L.A.'s freeways: A man with a machete was shot and killed by California Highway Patrol officers about 4:40 p.m. on the connector from the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway to the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway.

California Highway Patrol officers shot and killed a machete-wielding man on the eastbound I-10 connector to the northbound I-5 during today’s evening rush hour.

A CHP spokesperson said the shooting occurred about 4:40 p.m.

Officials closed the connector ramp to investigate, but traffic on the nearby freeways was not seriously affected.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was shot after he allegedly approached officers with the machete.

Why can't they just shoot the guy and throw him in the trunk and get off the highway.

Ya know what... I was never more pissed off then I was when I heard about this incident. I was on the 10 Freeway for 3 hours... trying to get home. I mean... come on... the LAPD has to use better judgement. There is no reason to shoot someone on the freeway with a GUN, then... have to shut down the freeway... because the LAPD couldn't use good judgement in regards to a dumb person with a knife... I mean... never heard of a Taser, or using your car... or shooting someone in the leg... and then dragging there stupid butt into the back of your car and taking them to jail. There was no reason... TO SHOOT HIM, then SHUT DOWN THE FREEWAY, JUST SO THEY CAN THEN... HAVE SOME LONG INVESTIGATION INTO THE INCIDENT.

Yes... I'm pissed!
