Joggers, bikes don't mix?
Have you ever heard of getting a ticket for jogging in a bike lane? Well, the OCR's Honk! found a strange case in South Orange County:
No one likes getting ticketed and when Christine Valdivieso of Laguna Niguel was pulled over on Marina Hills Drive, she was certainly no exception. When Valdivieso looked over to the side and noticed a motorcycle deputy signaling her to pull over, she was distraught and confused. I mean, how do you get pulled over while you're running? .... It's not common for pedestrians to be ticketed, but it does happen, said Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Paul Wade of the traffic division. Valdivieso was running on the bicycle lane of Marina Hills Drive, a space strictly reserved for bicycles.

Another illegal runner, what other laws do you also have no trouble breaking?
Most unsolved crimes have been committed by criminals in prison for other offenses.

I run in the bike lane too-- 99% of the time there AREN'T ANY BIKES IN IT. In contrast, the sidewalk is a maze of slow-moving pedestrians and dogs on leashes who usually dart out at the last second and trip you. Well, at least now I know to be more careful... since the police clearly have nothing more important to do than ticket non-violent runners.

Jason, I've been asking the airport authorities to allow me to ride my bicycle on LAX runway 7-Right; its 10,000 long; and it would be just perfect; but, they keep telling me "no." And, I was using Christine's argument: "why can't I?"

No different than her running in the middle of the bicycle path.
Just a question of whom she runs into. I would rather it be
a motor vehicle. Motorist won't get hurt; bicyclist will.

Cool. It would be better if she ran in the middle of the street right?

Hooray Hooray. That's right; bicycle paths clearly are marked:
"Bikes Only/No Peds." I once overtook six LAPD officers riding
their LAPD issued bicycles on the bicycle path along
Dockweiler Beach. Turns out that 5 of these six LAPD bicycle
officers were in training. The trainer agreed that it was illegal
to be on the bike path while not riding a bicycle.
The kicker is that local governments get funding for building
bicycle paths by calling them bicycle paths in the funding
applications.....then, once the local governments get the funds,
they claim it is a mixed use trail (it's fraud) as in the
Santa Ana River Trail. Bicycle paths are for bicycles.
PS: Joggers in most areas cannot jog on the 405 freeway in OC,
also (including the HOV lane). Same law.
