Free parking

The city wants to help you do your civic duty. Didn't pols used to do this in Chicago? According to CNS:
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa directed the city’s Transportation Department today to relax parking restrictions within one block of all city polling places during Tuesday’s elections. Motorists trying to find a parking spot near their polling places will not have to deposit money in meters, while street cleaning, time limits and preferential parking restrictions will not be enforced, according to Villaraigosa.

Actually, they still do this in Chicago. (I live there.) It's not really prone to much abuse because the city puts up temporary signage that says something like: "Election Day parking, Time limit 30 minutes" I live across the street from my little polling station, so I got to watch all the people coming and going. Also they make sure to have enough disabled-person parking, too. Don't forget the legendary Chicago voting motto: "Vote Early, Vote Often!" Have a nice election, LA, and good luck with the free parking.

This would then allow people who live, work and shop in the area to park for free - and tie up all the spaces making it impossible for people who want to vote to use.
