Who is forcing you to live where you do and to work where you do?
Your values are questioned. Either move to the neighborhood where you work or vice versa, or....
Your complaint falls on deaf ears.

dump however much money it takes to do ANYTHING for the 405. good lord. I have a 15 mile commute on the 405 south at night ('against' traffic) and last night what is usually a 25 minute trip (35-45 in heavy traffic) took 80 minutes. Why? there was no accident, but traffic was backed up over the hill and halfway down it for one reason: A car stalled in lane three about fifty feet after the interchange of the 405 and the 10. It was actually a relief to get past that and into the faster moving (20 mph) construction traffic between the 10 and the 90. Traffic was actually moving faster in the 4 into 3 lane merge to go under the 10 (Please, for the love of god, expand that goddamned underpass!).

I would be thrilled to take public transportation if there were a rail line on the 405 as well as the 101, it'd be so much less frustrating than my current commute.
