Swine flu: Gimme three shots

September 8, 2009 |  9:19 am

Pig Southern rock meets pandemic H1N1 flu. Wellmont Health Systems in Kingsport, Tenn., has produced a video parody of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Gimme Three Steps" to emphasize the need for healthcare workers and others to get vaccinated against the new virus, commonly known as swine flu. Flu vaccination this winter will most likely require three shots: one for seasonal flu and two for pandemic H1N1. The company e-mailed the video, which features dancing and lip-synching employees, physicians and volunteers, to all employees today and has posted it on its Web page, YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Sample lyrics:

Started feelin’ real weak

My nose was starting to leak

I knew I had the H-1 flu

I was offered a shot

While the news was hot

But it’s something I never do

Doc said, “Hey there fellow

With your phlegm turnin’ yellow,

Whatcha tryin’ to prove?

Cause it’s a big, bad bug

Now you’re down on the rug

And this might be all for you.”
