Is swine flu a conspiracy?

April 28, 2009 | 12:44 pm

Swine flu conspiracy

With so much worldwide panic and pressure surrounding swine flu, you had to guess that the conspiracy theorists would come out of the woodwork.

Everyone wants to find what pig was the original carrier. Everyone wants to know if the government is behind this. The FBI? The CIA? Is this is a great pandemic that was warned about by Nostradamus? Is Donald Rumsfeld secretly planning our demise to make money with Tamiflu? And who stands to gain?

As the news continues to break, and everyone wants to name a bad guy first, let’s take a look at the theories swirling around the Interweb.

Swine-flu outbreak could be linked to Smithfield factory farms

Is Smithfield Foods, the world’s largest pork packer and hog producer, linked to the outbreak? Smithfield operates massive hog-raising operations Perote, Mexico, in the state of Vera Cruz, where the outbreak originated.

Swine flu: Bringing home the bacon

As the world gears up once again for a flu pandemic that may or may not arrive (it actually seems possible this time), we might want to remember some of the lessons of the last flu scare. One of these is that there are winners as well as losers in every high-profile outbreak of infectious disease. First and foremost among them, of course, is Big Pharma, which can always be counted on to have its hand out wherever human misery presents an opportunity to rake in some cash.

This site wryly rounded up an array of blogs and tweets crying “Conspiracy!” A sample of the notes posted there:

ATTENTION AMERICA!!!! This is highly significant. The WHO "Pandemic Control Room" is a creation of the Illuminati elite for the final "end-game" killer virus mapping and tracking, and is thus equipped with super-computers tied to all U.N. member government's security forces.

Obama makes an official visit to Mexico, and a short week later, Mexico City schools, Universities and all PUBLIC BUILDINGS are shut down in pandemic fear -- (for the first time since the devastating 1985 earthquake!) Again, is this just a bizarre co-incidence??"

From Twitter:
How could we leave out the latest Internet phenomenon? Love it or hate it—Twitter is being talked about and used. Who knew that in 140 characters, hundreds of little tweet-ed paranoias could be passed and spread, much like a virus. From Twitter user @supergodiva:

Is Swine Flu lethal Israeli scam to force Mexico=Gaza comparison via separation fence?

Ret. Army General Russell Honore asks @donlemoncnn "Did this swine flu come out of a lab?""

Swine Flu reported as unusual as it affects the most healthy (20-45) vs weak kids/elderly. Perfect pathogen to quell dissent.

Finally, from
The naturalists weigh in with “As Swine Flu Spreads, Conspiracy Theories of Laboratory Origins Abound.” From the article:

It's not an unreasonable question to ask: Could world governments, spooked by the prospect of radical climate change caused by over-population of the planet, have assembled a super-secret task force to engineer and distribute a super virulent strain of influenza designed to "correct" the human population (and institute global Martial Law)?

So, what's the real truth here? One sick pig? Man-made lab experiment? Population control? Pharm companies cashing in? Rummy cashing in? Or a whole lot of floated hogwash?

What's your theory? Tell us in the comments below.

Veracruz, both the city and the state, is one word.

Whether the swine flu is real or not, the cure for all viruses and pathogens has been around since the beginning of the 20th century. It's called silver colloid. I personally use Mesosilver. Although I hear Unlike the patented antibiotics sold by Big Pharma, bacteria are not immune to silver. You have to make sure it comes from a legit source though. Fake colloids have a potential to cause agrophyia, which can turn the skin blue.

I use it personally to stop toothaches (caused by the same pathogens that cause cavities), and for athletes foot.

I think Revgen has just added to the conspiracy theories, using bogus 'science' to make huge untrue claims. As a scientist, I certainly wouldn't trust any one 'silver bullet' remedy. While Big Pharma's only interested in making drugs that will make them money, each virus and bacteria are unique organisms and require different metabolisms and if silver could get into the bacteria, it could probably get out just as easily. If you think silver is going to solve your problems, by all means, continue taking it. I personally would rather rely on true science that requires testing and validation and has gone through immense clinical trials.

Whether or not the swine flu is real... Don't take silver colloid as some cure-all and remember, 'if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.'

Silver colloid! Woohoo! Party like it's 1918.

I would like to add that leeches and trepanation are perfect cures for the Swine Flu! Also sacrifice a rabbit to Mars and not only will you be safe from Swine Flu, but you will be blessed with much milk, honey, denarii, and slaves.

Coast To Coast AM (Art Bell's old show now hosted by George Nory), had a guest on last night saying the Swine Flu was a bioengineered race specific virus. It's all a conspiracy for the new world order to take over by causing chaos in Mexico, they also said that there are thousands of deaths that aren't being reported.

Hahahaha, Revgen, you are a hoot.

Why is it that conspiracists consistently start from the scantest evidence, work their way backwards towards a conspiracy theory, and then demand to be taken seriously? Why is it that the "theorists" are almost invariably unqualified to render an opinion on these issues? Why is it that the "theorists" almost never have primary sources, and rely selectively on "evidence" they've trolled from the web or second or third hand accounts? And why do we give these people so much credit?

Woodward and Bernstein waited to publish their breakthrough articles until they had solid evidence. How I wish these conspiracy theorists would hold themselves to higher standards. Is it impossible that the CIA, FBI, or Rumsfeld are behind this outbreak, no matter how unlikely I personally find it? No. But neither is it impossible that unicorns exist. Let's wait until someone has actual evidence of a unicorn before we start dancing around the maypole.

I don't recall calling Silver Colloid a cureall. It just destroys viruses and bacteria.

It will not cure autism. It won't stop heart attacks. It won't stop diabetes, or grow your hair back either. And it if your fat, silver colloid will not help you lose weight.

Oh, and if you're a scientist, at least give us your name and position. Everybody can be a scientist on the internet.

Personally, I sort of like JP's flu booger fix-all...especially if we're talkin' FEMALE slaves. WhooHoo.
Seriously however, considering that there's 6 and a half billion out of control breeding, feeding maggots slithering about the bottom of trashcan earth, considering that I've been 'involved' in deep nefarious govt. undertakings, I have no doubt whatsoever that population 'management' operates under many various guises. I've seen many funding documents and it's been place since before most of you were born.
What, you think we only 'imported' Nazi rocket doctors and documents exclusively?

Read the history and it will be clear where it came from. Use facts.

Tom Deckard prophesied this years ago.

There is a video on YouTube: a truck driver has been delivering truckloads of biological hazard material from Dept. of Homeland Security to American military bases during the 1st, 2nd weeks of April.

Look for the video, "Swine Flu will go Pandemic". From there is a link to the truck driver report on a radio call-in show.

Too bad this is more tabloid then investigation. The flu is not necessarily a swine flu - it is a hybrid. No sick pigs found. People in the US that got sick were NEVER around pigs. This is fact - not conspiracy.

And to immediately discount that it could have been engineered is naive considering the stockpiles of poisons, toxins, etc. that have been used by the CIA and other state entities that would do its citizens no harm. To refute without your own investigation is, well, ignorant.

Think: collapse of Mexico.

Just for fun input Perote, Mexico into Google Maps and zoom in with the satellite view...soon you will see the notorious hog from FROM SPACE.

As for me Mike Davis wrote it well ....

"The Mexican swine flu, a genetic chimera probably conceived in the faecal mire of an industrial pigsty."

Then again....

yes, it is so unlike government to use biological warfare. always trust big brother. otherwise you will be seen as a crazy conspiracy theorists and no one wants to be thought of as that. line up for your tamiflu dose...

there are plenty of Colloidal Silver studies. here is one...

and here is the Congressional testimony of William D. Moeller, Chairman and President of American Biotech Labs on Colloidal Silver......

here is yet another study on Colloidal Silver.....

black elderberry extract (Sambucol) is also a strong influenza preventive as well.

This conversation would not even exist if we put an end to factory farming. Consumer demand for meat has created an environmental and inhumane nightmare. This is the planet's immune system fighting back.

160 people in Mexico have died from this flu, why is it so newsworthy? I think that's where conspiracy comes into play, the media shilling for the businesses that will score some coin off the panicked joe and jane blows that fall for each and everyone of these jokes.

Global Cooling
Global Warming
Global Climate Change
Peak Oil
Avian Flu
Swine Flu

Didn't anybody read "Animal Farm"? More likely, Pigs and Chickens got together and created a superbug to destroy their tormentors and create their animal eutopia. It's called Swine/Avian Flu for a reason! Pretty much any disease you can think of started off initially as a animal vector. The Cows thought they had us with Small Pox and Apes with AIDS/HIV.

Maybe the Vegans have a point. If we leave them alone... maybe they'll leave us alone. The price of bacon is eternal vigilance.

Personally, I think the Swine Flu was a creation of the blue man:,0,507429.story

The price of bacon also includes environmental destruction, obesity, heart disease, colon cancer, and diabetes.

Sorry Revgen, you're right, you didn't call it a cure-all, just a 'cure-for-all viruses and bacteria,' which you might as well consider a cure-all because of the huge biodiversity within viruses and bacteria, you should do some research about pathogens and how vastly different they are. Sure, there are medications made to specifically target bacterial polymerases or gyrases (topoisomerases) that can target a large number of bacteria, but there are so many polymorphisms and other factors that go into trying to fight a bacteria, to say that one thing is going to kill everything... that's pretty crazy at this point in science. We tend to believe in some things that will 'cure cancer' or cure this or that, but then we actually take a close look at it and learn that it wasn't the answer that we were looking for.

I'm not giving credentials and I don't have to. I'm not giving you any information that requires it. I think intuition would tell everyone that if someone claims silver is the cure-all (for pathogens) then we would've know for a long time, it would be FDA approved, and we would live in harmony with the microbes. And yeah, I suppose we could all be scientists over the internet, but you would certainly get laughed at by the scientific community if you actually thought that worked. Sorry man, but your cure-all claim was killed the second you said 'all viruses and bacteria.'

It's not as though we haven't been lied to and manipulated by a previous administration (over WMDs, with warheads tipped with ebola and all that kind of stuff), or put on alert because the 9/11 hijackers were supposedly mixed up with the anthrax that got sent through the mail. Then we found at that Saddam didn't have such WMDs, having long since destroyed them. And the anthrax turned out to be domestic, but out of a US government lab, sent by one of its employees. Bearing these traumas in mind, if they are consciously remembered, it is easy to imagine a lot of scenarios about the swine flu.

Since I think this current government is better than the last one, I'm hoping that this swine flu is honestly portrayed as coming from Mexico, arising spontaneously in some agricultural context from which it jumped to humans, the way every flu does, and that this hype about it is an attempt to educate the public about what to do in a crisis. I would consider this to be people trying to act prudent, aware that in a world of jet travel, we are likely to have other epidemics and it would be nice to know how to deal with them.

well, we sure arent worried about the economy now. :)

oh , or the war.

oh, or the bankers .
