The U.N. Security Council on Tuesday condemned the use of violence in Libya and called for those responsible for attacks on civilians to be held to account, according to Reuters reports.

The call came in a statement late Tuesday agreed upon by the 15-nation council after a day of debate on the clashes in the North African country.
