IRAN: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says nuclear program aimed at 'awakening the spirit' of Muslim world

Iran's top leader said his nation's nuclear program was not aimed at making weapons but at bolstering the spirit of the Islamic world.

"We only seek to awaken the spirit of dignity in the whole of the Muslim community," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in comments Friday.

Khamenei wasted little time in responding to the International Atomic Energy Agency's latest report on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, released Thursday.

In a ceremony loaded with symbolism in the Persian Gulf port of Bandar Abbas, Khamenei boarded the latest addition to the Iranian navy's fleet, the destroyer Jamaran, and insisted it was the U.S. and not Iran stirring up trouble in Middle East.

"U.S. officials are angry and disappointed with the Iranian nation," he said in comments posted on his website, Khamenei.ir. "Their meaningless and obsolete remarks about the alleged development of atomic weapons in Iran show well the enemies of the nation are even incapable of fabricating fresh propagandistic phrases."

Iran, he said, did not want an atomic bomb: "As we have said many times, our religious convictions and precepts prohibit development of such genocidal weapons. That is why we don't believe in atomic weapons and bombs and we don't seek to make them."

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton recently visited American allies in the Gulf, with rallying support to counter Iran her No. 1 goal. Khamenei blasted attempts to sow discord between Iran and its southern neighbors.

"The Americans and some Western governments are falsely alleging that Iran is taking action against its neighbors," he said.

"Our neighbors know well these allegations are utter lies and the U.S. and the Zionist regime are trying to divert attention of Muslims away from the archenemies of Islam – the U.S. and Israel," he said. "The regional countries are our brethren and neighbors, and we believe that the Persian Gulf region can serve all regional nations if it is run by collective wisdom."

Iran-jamaran The 120-person Jamaran, the first Iranian- made destroyer and possibly the most advanced Iranian warship ever made, will patrol the Persian Gulf.

"Today is a sweet, blessed and promising day and this is an important achievement," Khamenei said of the warship.

"Before the revolution, bullying powers were engaged in pillaging Iran," he said. "But today they are no longer in position to plunder Iran's interests and resources, and they are infuriated."

What makes you think Russia will go along with the West's trumped up charges? Because Israel promised a few contracts ?

http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2010/02/22/world/international-uk-nuclear-iran-israel.html
"Many Western diplomats believe that China, along with fellow veto-wielder Russia, would block any Security Council sanctions targeting Iran's energy sector."

Maybe if Israel and the US bribe Russia enough, it will go along with some pistachio sanctions... Otherwise, it's pretty much USrael and its poodles (UK, France, Germany) which are the "international community" they are always talking about.

Iran, like any other country has the right to defend itself and also to develope its neclear program.

How is it that nuclear countries which have nukes and have even used them, try to prevent Iran from having peaceful neclear activities?

Moreover, only a small fraction of the Iranian nation really want the toppling of their ruling system, and most of the opposition just want the change of president.

The majority of people of Iran are more or less content with the government and the Supreme Leader, as you saw millions of supportes in the streets last week. (Of course, if your media even broadcast it)

Iran should not arouse concern. Iran can actually build nuclear bomb, but will not attack any country. Georgia is the most dangerous flashpoint. The Bible says: "At the appointed time [the king of the north = Russia] will return back [will regain the influence, which it lost after the break-up of the Soviet Union] and come into the south [many indicate that this might be Georgia], but it will not be as the former [1921] or as the latter [2008]. For the dwellers of coastlands of Kittim [the West] will come against him, and he will be humbled, and will return." (Daniel 11:29,30a) Then Iran will be humbled also. "But ships will come from the direction of Kittim, troubling Asshur [Russia] and troubling Eber [inhabiting on the other side the Euphrates]." (Numbers 24:24a, BBE)

At that time, peace will be taken from the earth and the "great sword" - nuclear sword - will be used. (Revelation 6:4) However, it will be neither the great tribulation nor "the end of the world" (Armageddon). As Jesus foretold, that will be "the beginning of birth pains". (Mathew 24:7,8)

If the Heavens planned a full return of Russia (and much suggests this) the present economic crisis will deepen. Then also the European Union and NATO will not stands.

THE MOVEMENT FOR DEMOCRACY IS THE ONLY GUARANTEE AGAINST A MILITARY STRIKE

Karim Sadjadpour, a renowned expert on Iran at the international think tank, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and considered a leading researcher on Iran issues, with close connections to the Obama administration, emphasizes that as long as Iran's internal opposition continues to agitate, there is less of a likelihood of a military strike. But if, by 2011, the opposition movement has faded, and Iran is defiantly moving forward - toward a weapons capability - the likelihood of such a strike goes up significantly.

GLOBAL POLITICS AND A MILITARY STRIKE

The clear indication now is that the Russians will sign on for a U.S. push toward tougher sanctions — if true, a major dividend for Obama's decision to shelve a missile-defense program in Eastern Europe. On Feb. 9, Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of Russia's Presidential Security Council, said Iran's "actions ... raise doubts in other countries and those doubts are quite valid." This might leave Beijing in a place it can hardly want to be: isolated on the Security Council.
The message within the UN now to Beijing could well be: The only thing that may stand between an eventual Israeli air strike and the resulting chaos in the Persian Gulf is you.
So just how does China define its "overall and long-term interests'' in Iran? We're about to find out.

. The only way to help Iranian people to topple their cruel regime is to boycott buying their oil and stop exporting petrol to Iran as an Iranian i know the majority of Iranians wouldn’t get any thing out of the oil revenue, most of the money goes for their nuclear program and there is no limits until they get their hands on nuclear bomb also spend huge amount of money to equip their security forces to suppress majority of Iranians whom asking for their wrights the rest of the money goes to support of terrorists all over the world, you just name it Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hammas in Gaza, Mogtada Sadr group in Iraq , Algaede in Yemen, Alshabab in Somalia also Taliban in Afghanistan and the list can go on and on and on, if the world really wants to stop Iranian regime to acquire nuclear bomb and create chaos all over the world this is the only peaceful option other than this wouldn’t heart the regime a bit and only hearts the ordinary Iranians and i must tell my regime loves to get any sanctions rather than the above

The major powers, including NATO member countries, Russia, and China should stop all clandestine support for this illegitimate regime in Iran today. NATO member countries should stop their daily diversion propaganda with fake-nuclear issue. Stop using this fake-issue as a smoke screen to cover-up gross violations of human rights by this puppet regime in Iran. NATO member countries should stop supporting this illegitimate usurper regime in Iran by their media outlets, and Newspapers. Just for a short time, and the usurper organized crime mafia regime in Iran will be pulled down by the people of Iran in a very short time.
