Raheem Salman joined the Times Baghdad bureau as a translator and reporter in early 2003. He has covered the invasion, occupation, insurgency, sectarian civil conflict and American effort to withdraw from the country. He graduated with a degree in English from the University of Baghdad’s College of Arts in 1974, and has worked for Western companies in Iraq and as an educator in Yemen and Libya. The Baghdad resident has strong ties to the country’s southern provinces.
