AFGHANISTAN: U.S. casualty identified

Sgt. 1st Class David Nunez, 27, of Los Angeles, died Thursday in Shewan, Afghanistan, of gunshot wounds suffered in combat, the Defense Department has announced.  He was assigned to the Army's 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Ft. Bragg, N.C. At least 513 U.S. military personnel have died since the beginning of the war in 2001.
