IRAQ: Plumbing for the future

The U.S. government is underwriting a school in Husaybah on the Syrian border to train young Iraqis in the building trades. The idea is that Iraq is due for a building boom once the central government in Baghdad and the provincial governments start cooperating.

The future may look very different from the present, if the school curriculum is any indication.

Among the plumbing designs that the students are studying is one showing how to hook up the pipes, heating element and drain for heart-shaped hot-tubs.
