Poll: Was 'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' robbed at the Teen Choice Awards?

Twilight Saga Eclipse

In past years, "Twilight Saga" films always swept the Teen Choice Awards and "Eclipse" was the fave to lead the way again Sunday night, but it got –- well –- eclipsed in some top races.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" pulled off a real magic trick by doing what the previous Potter pix couldn't do –- that is, drive a stake into the award hopes of the trendy vampire flicks. According to the award pundits at Gold Derby, "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" was expected to win choice sci-fi/fantasy film; Robert Pattinson was supposed to win male hottie sci-fi fantasy actor and share the trophy for best lip lock with Kristen Stewart.

However, "Harry Potter" won the film prize; Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson won the smooch award; Justin Bieber was hailed as top hottie. Watson even beat Stewart for best sci-fi actress. "Twilight" did win the actor's prize for sci-fi/fantasy fare, but it went to Pattinson's studly rival Taylor Lautner.

Lesser "Twilight" stars Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene won the scene stealer categories, and Pattinson won a token consolation prize -- choice vampire –- but otherwise there was little recognition for "Twilight" compared to previous years. Why? Is everybody just now caught up in hysteria over the release of the last "Harry Potter" film?

Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift score CMT Music Awards nominations

Justin Acts such as Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are virtual certainties when it comes to the 2011 CMT Music Awards, which announced its nominations Wednesday morning.

But Justin Bieber?

The pop phenomenon scored his first-ever country nod for his collaboration with Rascal Flatts on a reworked version of his track "That Should Be Me" for his EP, “Never Say Never –- The Remixes.”

Nominated in the collaborative video of the year category, Biebs is up against the Jason Aldean (who leads with four nominations) and Kelly Clarkson duet "Don't You Wanna Stay”; Kid Rock’s Sheryl Crow-assisted "Collide"; Aaron Lewis’ "Country Boy," which features George Jones and Charlie Daniels;  and the Loretta Lynn, Miranda Lambert and Crow team-up, "Coal Miner's Daughter."

Swift trailed behind Aldean with three nods. Her video for "Mine" is vying for best web video of the year, a new category going to online performances of songs, female video of the year and video of the year.

Underwood is up for two trophies, with her video for "Undo It" up for female video of the year and video of the year.

Winners are determined by fan votes. The show takes place June 8 in Nashville, Tenn.

Poll: Will Justin Bieber win a Webby Award?

Justin Bieber Webby Awards newsNow that Justin Bieber has conquered much of the modern world, can he claim a Webby Award next? His nomination for "Justin Bieber Takes Over Funny or Die" competes among the online film and video categories for best "comedy: individual short or episode."

(A word of warning: Links for the next two videos contain profanity.)

It's up against "Between Two Ferns," which may have star power, but, frankly, is stupid -– just Steve Carell mocking Zach Galifianakis for being fat. It's really thin on humor. Ditto the nominee titled "Kenny Gets Signed by K-Swiss." Don't even bother to watch it.

However, Bieber faces tough competition from a spoof of "Inglourious Basterds" titled "Grammar Nazis" and the Onion News Network's "Police Slog Through 40,000 Insipid Party Pics to Find Cause of Dorm Fire." They're both hilarious.

Every award category will have two winners, one that's chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and the other -– called the "People's Voice" -- by Web users. Obviously, Bieber will win the Web award because he has millions of fans, but will he also win the academy's award?

Winners will be revealed on May 3. Cast your votes in this category at the Webby site. Vote in all categories here.

Arcade Fire and Justin Bieber victorious at Juno Awards, Drake gets skunked

Arcade Fire Juno Awards Justin Bieber newsFollowing up on its shocking victory for best album at the Grammy Awards, the Montreal-based group Arcade Fire won four trophies at Canada's Juno Awards on Sunday. The indie rockers won best album, best alternative album, best group and best songwriting for "The Suburbs."

The Junos' biggest loser was Drake, who entered the contest with the most nominations (six) but failed to claim a single trophy while hosting the ceremony held at the Air Canada Center in Toronto. He lost the fan choice award to Justin Bieber, who wasn't present but sent a pre-recorded video message. Bieber also won best pop album.

Most emotional moment of the night was the appearance of Canadian music icon Neil Young, who made his first appearance ever at the Junos, which just celebrated its 40th anniversary. He beat both Justin Bieber and Drake for the artist of the year award, plus took home the prize for best adult alternative album and an honorary laurel for his humanitarian work.

"Wavin' Flag" by Young Artists for Haiti won best single. Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" won best international album over Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," Eminem's "Recovery," Ke$ha's "Animal" and Taylor Swift's "Speak Now." See a full list of winners and nominees.

Poll: Who should host the next Oscars? Will Smith? Justin Bieber?

Oscars shoulder shot

Now that the Oscars are over, the post-mortems are written and sourpusses have crucified the last telecast's hosts, it's time to start asking: who should be the next lamb to the slaughter the next host?

Should Anne Hathaway and James Franco be welcomed back to try, try again? What about recruiting one of the tried-and-true Oscar hosts? Recently, on "The View," Whoopi Goldberg revealed that the academy has asked her to return in recent years, but she said she would only do so if Billy Crystal agreed to co-host. He didn't. In fact, Crystal has made it clear that he doesn't want the job solo either, but we're putting him on our list anyway. Goldberg too.

Hey, since Oscarland is the last province on Earth not yet conquered by Justin Bieber, should it just be surrendered to the Bieb? Personally, I'm rooting for Will Smith, but I think he's too smart to step up.

Grammy Awards: Who gave the worst performance? [poll]

Bob Dylan grammyLet's get really snide about the, ahem, least wonderful Grammy performances.

Obviously, Jennifer Lopez was thinking what we were thinking when she squirmed during Bob Dylan's gruntfest with the Avett Brothers and Mumford & Sons: Where's that Soy Bomb guy when you need him?

At age 68, Barbra Streisand isn't even trying to sing anymore. She barely walked through "Evergreen."

Soon after Lady Gaga popped out of that egg to sing, she laid a bigger one on stage.

If Gwyneth Paltrow tries one more time to prove she's a singer as well as an actress, she's gotta give back that Oscar.

Christina Aguilera proved that her screaming fiasco at the Super Bowl was no fluke.

Justin Bieber with Jaden Smith: twice as chuckle-worthy.

The only thing worse than Katy Perry's attempt to sing was her attempt to dance.

Justin Bieber is 'upset' and 'disappointed' by Grammy slaps

After losing the Grammy Award for best new artist to jazz singer Esperanza Spalding and the award for pop vocal album to Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber was surprisingly candid backstage.

"I worked really hard these past few years and you know, I'm not going to lie — I was disappointed," Bieber told MTV News. "But, you know, I'm gonna come back [next year] and we'll take a few home."

Justin bieber grammy awardsThe losses have inspired him to "work harder than I did last year," he added. "It's going to be hard, but I'm going to try."

He tweeted to his fans, "As for the awards ... of course I wanted to win. Its been & still is a dream to win a grammy. Was I upset ... yes. But I was happy for her also. Someone said to me tonight its not your successes that define u but your failures. I lost ... but I don't plan on this being my last chance."

Some Bieber fans were so furious over the loss that they attacked Spalding's Wikipedia page with insults and threats. One poster told her to "go die in a hole." Later, the page was cleaned up.

Soon after the Grammycast, Awards Tracker asked our readers if Bieber was robbed at the Grammys by losing best new artist to Spalding. As of this writing, there were more than 1,300 responses who voiced their opinions below. There's still time to add your vote.

Grammy Awards poll: Was Justin Bieber robbed?

Justin bieber grammys

OK, so maybe it wasn't so crazy that Justin Bieber lost the Grammy Award for pop vocal album to Lady Gaga. "The Fame Monster" was nominated for album of the year; Justin's "My World 2.0" was not.

But what about the award for best new artist, eh? Justin Bieber was clearly the hottest new artist of the year. He set music sales records, whipped up a media frenzy, created hysterical stampedes and crowd crushes at concert venues. He proved that he's award worthy by already claiming this same trophy from the American Music Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards.

Or is there true justice in the fact this Grammy was bestowed to Esperanza Spalding? After all, she's a critically praised jazz artist who needs more public recognition.
