What are the quickest ways to win an Emmy?

Jennifer aniston friends

Our forum posters are having lots of fun responding to a hilariously snide photo gallery at Gold Derby compiled by senior editor Daniel Montgomery: "10 quickest ways to win an Emmy."

Montgomery cites examples like "Host an awards show," citing how Neil Patrick Harris failed to win an Emmy year after year for "How I Met Your Mother," but claimed one for emceeing the Tonys. Other examples: "Write a song with Andy Samberg" (Justin Timberlake) and "Host a parade" (Ryan Seacrest, Kelly Ripa). Below are some additions by our message-board commentators:

adamunc:  Be a Known-Name Actress and Get a Scenery-Chewing Guest Shot on "Law & Order: SVU." (Unless you're Angela Lansbury.)

thesmartone: Tell that to Debra Messing.

Beau Salant: Announce the Emmy Nominees, Compete Against Sofia Vergara, Be a Dramatic Actress from Showtime in a Comedy Category, Give Birth on TV, Die/Battle a Disease on TV

Another fresh Emmy winner of best comedy actress?

Melissa mccarthy

If a recent Emmy voting trend holds, forget Tina Fey ("30 Rock") or Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie") winning the award for lead comedy actress. They've already bagged the category in the past. The champ will be one of the other four nominees: Laura Linney ("The Big C"), Melissa McCarthy ("Mike and Molly"), Martha Plimpton ("Raising Hope") or Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation").

For the last 10 years, a different winner has claimed the category every time. No one has repeated. Patricia Heaton ("Everybody Loves Raymond") began the trend toward solo victors in 2001. Subsequent recipients: Jennifer Aniston ("Friends"), Debra Messing ("Will and Grace"), Sarah Jessica Parker ("Sex and the City"), Felicity Huffman ("Desperate Housewives"), Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("The New Adventures of Old Christine"), America Ferrera ("Ugly Betty"), Fey, Toni Collette ("United States of Tara") and Falco.

'Transformers 3' and 'Zookeeper' look like top Razzie rivals

Transformers Dark of the Moon Zookeeper news"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and "Zookeeper" are doing boffo at the box office, but now the bad news: They could hit the jackpot at the Razzies too, according to the awards' president and founder, John Wilson.

"Transformers 3" hasn't received reviews as nasty as the second installment, "Revenge of the Fallen," which won Razzies for worst picture, director (Michael Bay) and screenplay last year, "but it has all of the earmarks to be a big contender again," Wilson says. "It's still got a low score at Rotten Tomatoes and it's a blatant rip-off of the first two films."

"Looks like Hollywood is loading up our worst picture category with lots of contenders early this year," he adds. "All of the big-budget blockbusters in 2011 have been horrible at best. In any other year, 'Green Lantern' would be a shoo-in for a nomination, but now I just don't know -– there's so much competition!"

"Zookeeper" could also make the Razzie list, Wilson warns: "It looks like the producers didn't use the academy's players directory to find the stars to voice the animals in their film. They used our list –- Sylvester Stallone and Adam Sandler have a long history with us."

Sandler is such a Razzie darling that he might be nominated a few times this year. "Sandler could not only be nominated for that awful movie he did with Jennifer Aniston, 'Just Go with It,' but he could end up being nominated against Aniston for his other movie, 'Jack and Jill' in which he plays dual roles. If he pulls that off, he'll  become the first star ever nominated for both worst actor and actress in the same year. Eddie Murphy won for portraying both genders in 'Norbit,' but his character Rasputia was in the supporting actress category."

Nicolas Cage might also reap lots of Razzie luv this year. Wilson says, "I realize that Nicolas Cage is in such trouble with the IRS that he has to take every role he's offered, but that means he could end up being nominated twice for worst actor – for 'Season of the Witch' and 'Drive Hungry.'"
