Poll: Who gave the best performance on the CMT Music Awards?

Cmt duet 2"Now Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts sounded like he got in plenty of practice time because he sounded good during 'I Won't Let Go'"! said a commenter nicknamed James Otto Sweet Heart in our message boards while watching the CMT Music Awards.

Music Lover gushed over the performance of "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)": "I thought Luke Bryan was AMAZING."

However, most viewers are still buzzing about Sheryl Crow's performance of "Collide" with her former beau and CMT host Kid Rock. Not because the musical rendition was so dazzling, but because of the glimpse of underwear she inadvertently flashed when she stood up from a stool.

The Zac Brown Band shared the CMT award for performance video of the year with Jimmy Buffet for "Margaritaville," but wowed the ceremony with its live rendition of "Knee Deep" on stage.

There were country pairings like Big and Rich and Gretchen Wilson crooning "Fake I.D.," but CMT likes to mix up music genres for effect. The show's big finale was a performance of "Dirt Road Anthem" with Jason Aldean and Ludacris.

Taylor Swift takes video of the year honor for 'Mine' at 2011 CMT Music Awards

Cmt

Taylor Swift took the top award at the 2011 Country Music Television Music Awards, landing video of the year honor for “Mine” on Wednesday in Nashville. Singer Blake Shelton collected two awards, male video and Web video while his bride, Miranda Lambert, won the female video honor for “The House That Built Me” and Lady Antebellum’s video for “Hello World” was named group video of the year.

Rascal Flatts, the Band Perry, Sugarland, Justin Bieber and director Trey Fanjoy also went home with CMT trophies, as did Jimmy Buffett and the Zac Brown Band, whose collaborative version of Buffett’s “Margaritaville” was named CMT’s performance video of the year.

Wednesday’s ceremony began with a video parody of the film “Thelma and Louise” featuring Swift and Shania Twain, who is mounting a return to the spotlight after the very public dissolution of her marriage to producer Robert “Mutt” Lange. After recently publishing her autobiography, “From This Moment On,” and releasing her first single in several years, “Today Is Your Day,” she took time at the CMT Awards to announce that she’ll start a two-year residency in Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace in December.

Polls: Who'll win the CMT Awards for best female and male videos?

Last year, Miranda Lambert usurped those dueling country divas Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood at the CMT Music Awards to win best female video for "White Liar." Previously, Swift and Underwood had traded off winning the prize over four years, each claiming it twice. Now the question looms: Can Lambert prevail again? Or can Swift or Underwood reclaim the crown?

Now Lambert is nominated for "The House That Built Me," which already has swept the CMA and Academy of Country Music Awards. Swift competes with "Mine," Underwood with "Undo It." All three also square off in the race for best video of the year.

Poll: Can Taylor Swift topple Carrie Underwood at CMT Music Awards?

Poll: Carrie Underwood will crush Taylor Swift at CMT Music Awards

Carrie Underwood Taylor Swift CMT Music AwardsCarrie Underwood's "Undo It" video scored a whopping 62% of the vote in our poll asking Awards Tracker readers to predict who'll win best video of the year at the CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night. Taylor Swift's "Mine" pulled a mere 22% of the tally as of this afternoon.

That's surprising considering the dueling country divas seemed to be on equal ground of late. Over the past four years, they have each won the CMT Award for best video of the year twice.  Underwood prevailed last year for "Casanova Cowboy" and, before that, for "Before He Cheats" (2007). Swift won for "Love Story" (2009) and ("Our Song" 2008).

We thought that Miranda Lambert might be in a position to topple both Underwood and Taylor, considering the recent sweep of the CMA Awards and ACM Awards by "The House That Built Me," but she's pulling less than 8% of the vote in our poll, which we reproduce below. If you disagree strongly about the early results, pipe in!
