If TV industry leaders are buying Tracy Morgan‘s apology for his anti-gay remarks, there’s one place they can express their support and forgiveness in a high-profile way: at the Emmys.

Emmy voting for nominees is still going on right now. Ballots are due Friday. Tracy Morgan is listed as contender No. 325 on the reminder list of performers who are eligible –- sandwiched right between Cory Monteith (Finn on ‘Glee’) and Bobby Moynihan (various roles on ‘Saturday Night Live’) –- in the race for supporting comedy actor. Morgan is no stranger to the Emmys. He nabbed a nomination in this category in 2009 along with ’30 Rock’ costar Jack McBrayer, but they lost to Jon Cryer (‘Two and a Half Men’).

TV academy voters sometimes use the Emmys as a way of embracing rascal actors rebounding from scandal. Once Robert Downey Jr.finally got sober and went back to work, he reaped an Emmy nomination in this same category in 2001 for appearing on ‘Ally McBeal.’ Downey lost to costar Peter MacNicol.
