As if ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘As the World Turns’ haven’t had enough bad news lately, considering they’ve been axed by their networks. On Wednesday both got snubbed by the Daytime Emmy nominations in the race for best drama series along with the surviving (for now) ‘Days of Our Lives.’

Overlooked in the acting races were soap icons Anthony Geary (‘General Hospital’), Susan Lucci (‘All My Children’) and Erika Slezak (‘One Life to Live’). None of them had been listed on the pre-nom ballot. Katherine Kelly Lang (‘The Bold and the Beautiful’), Steve Burton (‘General Hospital’) and Jon Lindstrom (‘As the World Turns’) did make the pre-noms list and pundits expected them to score bids in the lead-acting categories, but they got bumped by the surprise additions of Alicia Minshew (‘All My Children’) and Michael Park (‘As the World Turns’).

Alex Trebek (‘Jeopardy’) and Pat Sajak (‘Wheel of Fortune’) weren’t nominated for best game show host, but they will receive nice consolation prizes from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on June 19 in Las Vegas: lifetime achievement awards.

For a second consecutive year, Ellen DeGeneres wasn’t listed among the contenders for best talk show host, but that’s because she didn’t enter her name in competition after having won the award four times in the past. Her program continues to compete for best talk show.
