“I hope this Oscar can bring us together,’ Christian Bale‘s mother Jenny Bale told British tabloid the Sun after watching his victory for supporting actor on TV. ‘I saw other celebrities there with their mothers and got upset. I would have loved to have been by his side.’

Soon after Bale’s win for ‘The Fighter,’ his mother e-mailed him, ‘Well done, love mum X,’ but didn’t hear back. She says he has also ignored the Christmas and birthday cards she’s sent him over the last three years.

Christian Bale broke ties with his family in July 2008, after a squabble with his mother and sister at the Dorchester Hotel one day before the London premiere of ‘The Dark Knight.’ Allegedly, the fight involved a request for money and slurs against his wife, Sibi. His mother and sister went to the police and filed assault charges against him. The charges were later dropped.

‘I’d love Christian to walk through the door right now. I’d give him a big hug and a kiss and we could forget about the last three years,’ she told The Sun. ‘I stayed up late to watch on TV. I was nodding off but had to stay awake to see my son’s big moment. ... The family are so pleased for him. This Oscar is well-deserved.’

When Awards Tracker asked Bale’s rep if he had plans to respond to his mother’s plea for reconciliation, she said that she knows nothing about the British newspaper report, adding, ‘Christian is in China shooting a movie.’
