Oscars quote of the day: Martin Landau shares the thrill

Some of the best Oscar acceptance speeches aren’t clever or especially cool -- they’re terrific just because the winner isn’t shy about sharing their wild joy. When Martin Landau finally won in 1994 for portraying drug-adled Bela Lugosi in ‘Ed Wood,’ he was especially happy because he’d lost twice in the past, for ‘Tucker: The Man and His Dream’ (1988) and ‘Crimes and Misdemeanors’ (1989). When Landau finally prevailed, he beat Samuel L. Jackson (‘Pulp Fiction’), Chazz Palminteri (‘Bullets Over Broadway’), Paul Scofield (‘Quiz Show’) and Gary Sinise (‘Forrest Gump’). Upon arriving at the podium, Landau exclaimed:
