Actually, this is incorrect. "The Broadway Melody" received a Best Actress nomination for Bessie Love. I believe she gave the first "telephone scene" in a sound film which clinched her nomination.

Another name is missing. Bessie Love received a Best Actress nomination for "Broadway Melody." She lost to Mary Pickford.
