Oscars: Jacki Weaver knew she wasn't the favorite, 'and that's OK' [Video]
Jacki Weaver, the Australian "Animal Kingdom" actress previously unknown to most American moviegoers, knew she had a slim chance of winning Sunday's supporting actress prize.
So, on the red carpet at the Oscars, she had a message for all of her fans Down Under:
"I want to say to them, don't be disappointed if I don't win. And I probably won't, because I'm an outsider," she said, still in good spirits. "But I feel like I've gone to the Olympic games and got into the finals, and that's good enough."
With pundits predicting Melissa Leo was a lock in the category, we wondered: Did the awards process ever make Weaver feel bad?
"It doesn't bother me, because I think in this kind of thing, it's anyone's guess," she said. "And I know I'm not the favorite, and that's OK."

Fantastic performance; hope we've not seen in the last of her on the U.S. movie scene.
