‘True Grit’ takes top Cinema Audio Society award

‘True Grit’ took top honors Saturday night at the 47th Cinema Audio Society Awards, winning outstanding achievement in sound mixing for a motion picture.

HBO’s ‘Temple Grandin’ earned the top sound mixing award for a TV movie and miniseries at the ceremony at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

Other outstanding achievement awards presented Saturday night:

Sound mixing for a TV series: ‘Boardwalk Empire: Return to Normalcy’
Sound mixing for a TV nonfiction, variety or music series or specials: ‘Deadliest Catch: Redemption Day.’
Sound mixing for DVD original programming: ’30 Days of Night: Dark Days’

Taylor Hackford won the CAS Filmmaker Award and Jeffrey Wexler, CAS, earned the 2011 Career Achievement honor. [FOR THE RECORD: An earlier version of this post had Wexler’s first name as Jerry.]
