Now that Natalie Portman (‘Black Swan’) and Annette Bening (‘The Kids Are All Right’) have each won Golden Globes, we wonder: Does that push either of them closer to winning the Oscar next?

It certainly helps them both. Over the last 20 years, 12 Golden Globe winners have gone on to take the Oscar for lead actress, including four winners in the comedy or musical category. The Oscars and Globes agreed on lead actress over the last five years if you count Kate Winslet. At the Globes she won in lead for ‘Revolutionary Road’ and in supporting for ‘The Reader,’ while she claimed the lead spot at the Oscars for ‘The Reader.’
