There was no one in the ballroom who received more handshakes or warm nods of appreciation than Michael Douglas. His turn in ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ was a return to his iconic 1980s creation Gordon Gekko. But, of course, the reason Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr. lined up to visit his table was the 66-year-old’s battle with throat cancer.

‘I feel good. It’s nice to get out. We haven’t been out much the last year,’ Douglas said as he stood next to his seat during a commercial break. ‘We needed a nice night out. Catherine [Zeta-Jones, his wife] had the musical at the beginning of the year, and then with the cancer, well, we’ve had our hands full. It’s good to see everyone, you know? And I do feel good. Thanks for asking.’
