Golden Reel Award nominees announced

The Motion Picture Sound Editors announced its nominees for the 57th annual Golden Reel Awards this morning. The awards honor sound and music editing in feature, TV and other categories.

Nominated for best sound editing: music in a feature film are “2012,” “(500) Days of Summer,” “An Education,” “Avatar,” “The Informant!,” “It’s Complicated,” “Sherlock Holmes” and "Star Trek.”

Nominees for sounding editing for music in a musical feature film are “Crazy Heart,” “Every Little Step,” “Nine” and “This Is It.”

Nominees in the dialogue and ADR (automated dialogue replacement) category are “(500) Days of Summer,” “A Serious Man,” “G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra,” “The Hurt Locker,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Star Trek” and “The Stoning of Soraya M.”

Vying for best sound effects and foley are “2012,” “Avatar,” “The Hurt Locker,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Push,” “Star Trek,” “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Watchmen.”

Vying for best sound effects, foley, music, dialogue and ADR in an animated feature film are “9,” “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,” “Coraline,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “Monsters vs. Aliens,” “The Princess and the Frog” and “Up.”

Competing for best sound effects, foley, dialogue and ADR in a foreign film are “An Education,” “The Baader Meinhof Complex,” “Coco Before Chanel,” “District 9,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Red Cliff.”

The winners will be announced Feb. 20 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites.
