Mondo Award Show: Asian Television Awards
Spanning the Globe to Bring You the Constant Variety of Award Shows Dept.: If asked to describe Asian television, most American viewers might suggest Japanese endurance game shows or song-filled variety programs or possibly the densely plotted costume dramas that fill out the hours on Asian-language cable channels. However, the reality is that Asian programming is as richly diverse as that of any country, and the Asian Television Awards celebrates the best of these series, documentaries and specials from every major market in the Asia Pacific market.
Established in 1996, the Asian TV Awards draw over 1,000 entries from a wide range of broadcasters, including regional programmers and independent houses. A panel of juries culled from industry leaders and experts reviews each of the entries online and awards winners in more than 30 categories, including actors, documentary and news programs, animation, live event coverage and more. This year's lineup has added two new categories -- best cross-form platform and best achievement in high definition.
This year's awards take place in Singapore on Dec. 3, 2009, so book your flights now.
