Colin Firth's turn in Tom Ford's "A Single Man," which netted him top acting honors at the Venice Film Festival, will earn the Outstanding Performance of the Year Award from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Firth, who plays a college professor who struggles to find meaning after the death of his longtime partner, will receive the award at the festival's 25th edition on Feb. 13, 2010; the tribute also serves as further confirmation that Firth is a leading contender for the Best Actor slot at this year's Oscars, as indicated by such previous Outstanding Performance winners as Helen Mirren, Penelope Cruz and Heath Ledger.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will run Feb. 4-14, 2010.
