Producers Guild expands producer of the year noms to 10
The Producers Guild of America announced today that the 2010 PGA Award nominations in the category of Darryl F. Zanuck producer of the year in theatrical motion pictures will expand from five to 10 films.
The move, according to PGA President Marshall Herskovitz, was made because "we feel it better represents the unprecedented diversity of films being produced today."
One could also say the change was necessitated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' expansion of its best-picture category in 2009 to 10 films for the 82nd annual Academy Awards.
The freshman class of 10 PGA nominees will be announced on Jan. 5. The ceremony will be held on Jan. 24 at the Hollywood Palladium.
