Dennis Quaid is ShoWest's male star of the year
Veteran actor Dennis Quaid (“Breaking Away,” “The Big Easy” and “The Day After Tomorrow”) has been named ShoWest’s 2009 male star of the year. Quaid, 54, will be presented with the award at ShoWest’s banquet and award ceremony at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas on April 2.
In making the announcement today, Mitch Neuhasuer, co-managing director of ShoWest, said in a statement that “Dennis Quaid’s impressive accomplishments as an actor and his charismatic on-screen presence have been entertaining audiences for over three decades. Quaid’s body of work is diverse and varied, which is a testament to his ability and talent as a great actor.”
Quaid’s voice will be heard in the 3-D film “Battle for Terra,” opening May 1, and he’s also one of the stars of the summer action film “G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra.” Later this year, he’ll be seen in the horror film “Pandorum.”
ShoWest, the largest annual convention for the movie industry, takes place March 30 to April 2.
