Elliott Yamin's Fight for Love

The first single, of the same name, has been available digitally since March. Billboard noted his "soulful delivery" in their review. Collaborators on the new album include Jermaine Dupri and J.R. Rotem.

Caw, caw! Megan Joy flaps over to 'Idol Tonight'
Caw, caw! If you miss "American Idol's" first part-bird contestant, Megan Joy, you're in luck. The tattooed mother with the haunting voice will appear on "Idol Tonight" at 8 p.m. (Pacific time) Wednesday on the TV Guide Channel.
"Idol Tonight" is a weekly series hosted by Season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini and Season 2 crooner Kimberly Caldwell. When Joy pops in this week, Elliott Yamin will be there too, promoting his upcoming album "Fight for Love."
Guarini discussed his thoughts on Megan Joy with TV Guide before her elimination, saying, "I think that Megan has an amazing future in jazz or an indie genre. Her sound is so unique, and lately I feel like she has to shoehorn it into genres that don't quite fit her. Song choice is the most difficult aspect of 'Idol.' When you have a unique sound but not as much experience with the ins and outs of performance like some of your competition, song choice becomes an Achilles heel."
When TV Guide asked Caldwell how she felt about Megan Joy's Motown performance, the host replied, "She's very fresh and modern and has that whole Duffy/Amy Winehouse energy. It's worked out for them, so, 'Go Megan!' "
Good thing Guarini and Caldwell didn't mock Joy to TV Guide. That could have made for an awkward interview Wednesday.

Taylor Hicks travels 'The Distance'
The new album from"American Idol" Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks hits stores on Tuesday. The former champion is also currently touring with the road company of "Grease," performing in the role of Teen Angel. During the tour, he will also play solo shows for "The Distance," which is his second studio album. The first single from "The Distance," "What's Right Is Right," is a catchy hit, with a sleek soulful video to boot.
We caught up with Hicks over the phone during the San Diego leg of the "Grease" tour. L.A. is the next stop, with Grease going onstage at Hollywood's Pantages Theater March 10-22 and Hicks playing Sunset Strip's The Roxy Theatre March 18.
Question: You’re in San Diego on tour with "Grease." How is that going?
TH: It’s going great, we’re having a blast out on the road. And being able to travel to different cities and perform a Broadway show is a blessing, and a great opportunity.
Q: How’s the weather in San Diego?
TH: Well, I can say this for all of the "Grease" tour: We are extremely excited to be on the West Coast.
Q: You’re New York-based now, correct?
TH: I’m nowhere-based. I’ve been nowhere-based for actually 3 1/2 years. I kinda like being a nomad—the musical gypsy is not the worst thing in the world.
