Davon Jefferson playing professional basketball
Former USC forward Davon Jefferson, who inexplicably jumped into the NBA draft and hired an agent after his freshman season, has found gainful employment after not getting drafted.
He signed with the Maccabi Haifa Heat of the Israeli Premier League last week.
Jefferson made the team after a two-day tryout at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on July 28-29, where 60 players competed for a roster spot.
Had Jefferson stayed at USC another year, he could have developed into a potential first-round NBA draft pick. Instead, his stock crashed. Jefferson had a brief stint with the Lakers' summer league team but played in only two games.

Wishing Devon the best..though he should have remembdered the adage about never rushing the finished product. NBA potential? Certainly. Ready now? Not likely. Would he benefit from a nuturing and fun enviornment? Most likely! ...ask me in three years...

OK, I saw this one coming...
Whoever gave this kid career advice should be shot.
Unless he was going to be academically ineligible to play -- and seriously, does that EVER happen on Figueroa Street?? Leaving school was a HUGE mistake.
One decent game in a freshman season makes a NBA career. Guess he never heard of Darius Washington.

Tim Flloyd has to take some of the blame for Davon Jefferson not improving one iota in his time at SC. Actually, Mayo didn't improve either and they basically wasted a year of their life and earned nothing. Their draft stock didn't change and one would argue got worse under Floyd.

Gary do you really follow usc basketball, because if you did you would know that DJ had probelms with staying in the coachs good graces because he didn't follow instructions.
