Virginia's Coach Talks About Pete Carroll
Even though lots of people are getting excited about USC's first home game against Ohio State, you can bet the Trojans aren't looking past their most important task ... the opener at Virginia.
I've been hearing some of the buzz coming from the Cavs and most of their players sound excited about the opportunity to play USC -- a school that has never taken the gridiron against Mr. Jefferson's University. Even though the schools don't have much shared history, the coaches will certainly recognize each other. Pete Carroll and Al Groh stared at each other from opposite sidelines in the NFL, where they each spent time with the Patriots and Jets in the AFC East. Both moved to the college ranks in 2001.
Marc Davis from the Cavs' flagship station broke down the pair's track records in a video that you can watch by clicking here (just click the link and the correct video will start playing, no need to search the player). Gotta' love the Internet, which allows us to see what people are watching in Charlottesville. If you're traveling to the game, you can see more from Marc on WCAV CBS19. If you're staying home, you can check out some more of WCAV's USC-UVA coverage online.
Just to clarify, Carroll and Groh haven't faced each other as head coaches before.
