CJ Gable suffers double sprain

USC's backfield took another hit Tuesday when running back C.J. Gable suffered ankle and hip sprains.

Gable, a sophomore who redshirted last season after abdominal surgery, was hurt when he was tackled from behind in a scrimmage drill.

"It was real awkward the way he hit the ground," Coach Pete Carroll said.

Gable was hurt on a day that junior Allen Bradford sat out because of a hip strain and sophomore Joe McKnight practiced while nursing a sore right elbow and injured fingers.
