Davon Jefferson's Agent Reacts
Makhtar N'diaye, one of Jefferson's agents with Wasserman Media Group, said after the draft that six NBA teams had expressed interest in his client. N'diaye said Jefferson would play in the NBA summer league and "weigh his options," which could include attempting to obtain free-agent tryouts or playing overseas.
N'diaye would not second-guess Jefferson's decision to enter the draft.
"I'm more disappointed for the kid because I know he worked really hard the last two or three months to make it happen for himself," N'diaye said. "He made a decision that he thought was the right decision, and I support him 100%. It's not for me to judge him."
-- From a report by Ben Bolch --

Davon Jefferson can't read good.

Perhaps Mr. Jefferson should have worked "really hard" for the past two or three years!!

What an idiot. He could have been a top 20 pick next year. At this point, I actually feel sorry for him, as I am sure that the money suckers gave him bad advice and he didn't have a very good support system. He should have relied on the SC coaching staff for advice. Lesson learned, but with the low value of the dollar against the euro, he should be able to make some decent coin in Europe.

yall dont even know him shut up and stop making suck bad comments about him... im happy for him either way! I know him personally and he's a good kid!

If you're such a close personal friend, maybe you should have advised him that he is not ready for the NBA and that a little discipline from Floyd may have have done him some good.

Well, I said it when Jefferson declared for the draft that he should have stayed at USC, but that doesn't mean I don't wish him well in Europe, if he's lucky enough to get a shot there. I don't know Jefferson, so can't say who he got advice from or whether he would solicit advice from anyone before declaring, but since Tim Floyd brought the then 21-year old Freshman to USC in the first place, one would think Floyd might have anticipated things and talked reality to Jefferson before he said goodbye to USC.
It's a moot point now, but one that should be taken into consideration the next time USC thinks about recruiting a guy who clearly doesn't consider being a student / athlete high on his importance scale and that goes for the next O.J. Mayo, as well.

Jefferson thought about the money plain and simple. It's terrible because he would have probably been a first round pick next year. This guy obviously was caught up with his own grandiose thoughts of "getting paid." Too bad his circle of friends or support system did not give him better advise. Jefferson possibly, is another case of coming out "too soon." However, I hope a team decides to try him out over the summer. I think talent wise he can make it, but from what I have read, his work ethic is horrible.

Sorry for the mispelling of advise. It should have been advice.

Jefferson will probably end up in the Israeli league by next season

Bill JR Tim didn't really bring him in he was a bibby guy and when he couldn't get in at UNLV he went to a prep school and then he contacted USC. HE is a very good player just grew up in a bad area and really has little or none in the guidence department. So as it goe's he will have to make his way onto a team which at least they can pick which one, for he will probably do well in the summer pro league at LBSU anyway. But at least maybe now players at USC will pay attention to the coach and staff for Devon had a ruff go at SC this year the reason he didn't come back and he was to old to transfer and sit out another year.

this guy deserves not getting picked because if he had stayed one more year he would have been a lottery pick next year and made big bank but he decided to turn his back on the school that gave him a shot so this was a long time coming. he will never see the bright lights of the nba and maybe if he is lucky he can find a european team that is desperate enough to take a risk on a guy who doesnt know how to think and make good decisions.

What are Davon's options now? It is possible that a team might pick him up after summer league? And if so whats next is he on a contract with the team? Or does he have to go to a european team now?

Dont blame the agents for Davon being lazy, out of shape, and over all just an unlikeable guy. Agents get you workouts and see where the interest is. If you show up to the pre-draft camp incredibly out of shape, and GM's know you dont work hard, thats your fault. kid should have stayed in schools, but dont blame the agents for telling him to come out. if he had worked harder he would have been a first round pick.

Unfortunate turnout for a very raw but talented player. He had the makings of being a lottery pick in next year's draft and a 2nd rounder in this year's draft. Once GM's figure out what type of game is NBA translatable, then they would have figured out that a player like Jefferson could be sculpted into a big time player. He actually fits the Hornets style of play as he is an amazing finisher around the rim in transition off lob passes. On the contrary, once GM's understand that a player like Kevin Love or JJ Reddick and Tyler Hansbrough will all end up failing at the NBA level. All are too small, too UNathletic and too SLOW bottom line. The minute Love tries one of those slow motion wannabe Mchale up and under moves on a real NBA powerforward like Elton Brand or Carlos Boozer, his weak garbage will get tossed into the stands and he will find a nice spot on the bench in no time. See all of them in the Euro league in 2 years!!! Jefferson keep your head up and put in EFFORT and you will find a way to succeed.

Don't forget he was listed at 6'8" while at SC but the official draft measurement shows that he's only 6'6"... those two inches make a world of difference, he could dominate as a PF in college but would not cut it as a SF in the NBA.

Ruse, how tall was the round mound of rebound maybe 6-4, yes sometimes hieght works but if you block out it really doesn't matter.

Davon was always going to be a one and done...he even tried going to prep school but left when he had a falling out with the coach...i fell like some team is going to pick him up...i feel like he is better that amir johnson and he is still in the league...
Posted by: Nelson | July 29, 2008 at 07:23 PM
what now for davon? is it possible that an nba team might pick him up?

Davon Jefferson is a wonderful person who I am fortunate to say is a family member of mines and I must say I am happy that He has made it this far and not in a jail cell doing years, 6 ft under or just not knowing what it is that he wants to do with his life. He is a young man that is following his dreams and although those of us who have made bad choices in life we still survive and become stronger individuals. Davon is a loving, beautiful and strong young man despite all of the obstacles that was in his way he overcame alot and is still growing as a man. whatever his end result is he still isa man that is following his dreams. continue to follow your dreams Da because dreams become reality
Love U Davon (Da-Da)
Keep your Head Up
and always know to believe in yourself
