Wednesday Hot Links
Links are fewer and further between in the off-season, but here are a few worth checking out ...
- Dwayne Jarrett's wild ways are under the spotlight. Funny, wasn't he college roommates with a certain Matthew Stephen Leinart? Didn't they get in trouble because they were roommates? I'm not sayin'. I'm just sayin'.
- USC got its championship rings. Take a look at the big-time bling.
- The Oakland Raiders might draft Darren McFadden. What does that mean for Justin Fargas?
- Carson Palmer would like to see Sedrick Ellis as a Bengal.
- USC was well represented by its recruits at a top football training camp last weekend.
- Scout.com reevaluated 15 historic drafts and broke down how they should have gone.
- And last but not least ... Vegas picks Notre Dame to lose its spring game.

Adam,
I "guess" LAST BUT NOT LEAST relative to Sports Pickle (who???) picking Notre Dame "to lose its Spring Game"--huh??? As I recall, Irish played game last Saturday, about same time as USC played its final scrimmage. Because Jimmy "pickle??" Clauson, a\k\a LIMO BOY, only QB not a walk on, annual Blue & Gold game not usual one, but I think final score like 47 to 46 with one side "winning." I mean Sports Pickle??? I love beating the I-Wish and delusional fans still "ape" over "Yard of Lard" Charlie "Sheis," but......you cite a prediction a WEEK AFTER GAME from a LAME source that's flat out wrong........let's go back to restoring German language at USC!!! Fight On....Win Forever!

Sports Pickle is a parody site similar to The Onion ... it's just a joke. Also like The Onion, the joke can get a little old halfway through the article, but the headlines are often hilarious.
This line reminded me a little of something I wrote recently (which I'm sure isn't that original, either) about when Notre Dame and UCLA play each other, USC fans might only be happy if both lose.

Adam,
Not much to "worry" about relative as to whom to root for when Notre Dame plays ACLU---they've only played 4 times, with Bruins losing each time. We Trojan Fans can only enjoy Pete Arbogast's "Perfect Day": both Notre Dame and ucla LOSE and USC wins!
In 2007, best we could cheer about IF Notre Dame had won say 3 to 2. What was GREAT: Notre Dame's first lousy win of season against ACLU--at the Rose Bowl--and yet another embarrassing loss by gutty Bruins. USC goes back and later killed the Irish 38 to 0, in South Bend, IN, while ucla gets killed by then winless and hapless ND in Bruin's own Rose Bowl.
So really better for Irish to have won again vs. ucla than vice versa: Bruins bad anyway, and expected to beat Notre Dame; ND's surprising win underscored how badly coached Bruins were, and of course Notre Dame went right back into the toilet afterwards and lost a bunch more games (including to Navy after like 44 years of losses to ND dating back to last previous win lead by Roger Staubach of Midshipmen in 1963). Other than a 0 to 0 tie from old days before OT (and of course while no winner in a tie, also no loser), a boring 3 to 2 win by ND about only thing better---so glad it was Bruins on losing side, as usual.
