New Draft Projections Out
Not taking into account last night's Kansas victory over Memphis, NBADraft.net released its new projections yesterday. This site has become one of the most widely cited draft resources:
- O.J. Mayo is listed as the third pick, going to Minnesota. Sitting this high in the lottery would pretty much assure his early departure. It's worth noting that most of the time I run the ESPN lottery machine, this is also where he winds up (and never out of the top five).
- Taj Gibson is listed at 44, going to Golden State. Stuck in the middle of the second round, there might be a chance that he comes back.
For the 2009 draft:
- Incoming freshman DeMar DeRozan is the second overall pick.
- Davon Jefferson is the 17th pick.
Anything is possible thanks to the lottery system, and NBADraft.net does not take team needs into account until the NBA season is over. NBADraft.net is unique because it says it's the only website providing year-round projections of both the first and second rounds, and they do it for the upcoming and next year's drafts.
