Another Mic'd Carroll

Let's hope the Carrolls never switch to decaf.

USC released another great video this week. Brennan Carroll, who coaches the tight ends, was mic'd up for the walk-on tryouts and the result was a hilarious collection of off-the-cuff quotes and unbridled energy. It's not acting, but it's hard to beat this sort of delivery in Hollywood. It gets better every time you watch it. Among the best lines:

  • "Whistle! Whistle! Whistle! Good. I don't have a whistle. I just say whistle."
  • When told they don't have enough stopwatches to do two drills at once: "We don't need 'em. I'll do it in my head."
  • "This is dog wosh. Those shorts are way too tight for you. Way too tight on the shorts."
  • "I don't necessarily need to check my watch to know it's time to go."
  • "WORK! WORK! WORK! WORK!" jumping quickly to "Hey, just remember. I love every ... one of you."
  • "A lot of you guys might be a little scared. There might be a little fear in ya," in a soothing voice, then bellowing, "I need you guys to work your ... off."
  • When asked if there were any prospects: "Zero. But they could all make it."

According to EDSBS, somebody messed around with Brennan's Wikipedia page (it's since been edited) and we'll just say it was, um, awesome.

Was this a joke??? It seems a bit contrived and over the top. On the other hand, we're in Los Angeles so this type of behavior is somewhat the norm.

I'm a BIG Pete Carroll fan, but his son seems a bit full of himself. Pete Carroll he is not.

Brennan isn't Pete, but you can see the influences. Yes, I think this was played up a little bit!
