Things We Learned When USC Played Cal

Jsc_2

  1. USC can survive an overtime game despite blowing a lead, having limited bench depth, and using only seven players.
  2. USC can finish no worse than fourth in the Pac-10 and have a very unrealistic chance of finishing third. That means they should play Thursday afternoon in the Pac-10 tournament.
  3. Trojan fans are set for March Madness. The Galen Center crowd was especially jacked up for this close game, though nostalgia still insists that the Sports Arena was rowdier back in the day.
  4. Trojan fans are set for Mustache Madness for at least another generation. These four (pictured above) enjoyed courtside seats, dramatically slashed the average age of fans in the front row, and proved that EDSBS has a reliable feature for years to come.

As noted, USC only used seven players. Three (Mayo, Jefferson and Gibson) had over 20 points in the 93-89 OT win. Cal went 11 deep and only two failed to score. Click play to hear Coach Tim Floyd's full postgame press conference:
