Signature Win
USC put an exclamation point on its regular season today, getting its first signature home win in its final opportunity.
Stanford was flat.out.beat. The Trojans won, 77-64, but looked like they might pull away by even more (while simultaneously giving ulcers to the fans still remembering Thursday's game against Cal). They out-rebounded the Cardinal, 47-31, outscored them in the paint, 38-22, and had more points off of turnovers (17-11) and on the fast break (6-2). The only stat that favored Stanford was -- unsurprisingly -- bench scoring. Seven Cardinal reserves combined for 31 points, while Trojans Keith Wilkinson and Angelo Johnson combined for just 5 (Ryan Wetherell and RouSean Cromwell each played a token minute).
Here's the full audio of Coach Tim Floyd's 10-minute postgame press conference:
A big tip o' the hat to USC's fans, who were more jacked up than I've ever seen in the Galen Center and at least on par with some of the best Sports Arena games earlier this decade. There was a small contingent of fans that stormed the court, one who jumped from the student section, over an aisle of security guards, and crashed down through some of the courtside folding chairs. Considering USC's lack of bench depth, they could probably use somebody with hops like that.
More victory pics after the jump.

Congrats to Coach Floyd and the Assistant Coaches, the players and support staff. Regardless of what happens the rest of the year it has been a pleasure to see this group of players grow into a very fine team. As we all know, "team" always trumps talent alone. It is a tribute to all of the "talent" that they were able to become a team. In fact, a team that has a chance to go a very long way in the NCAA Tournament. Way to go & Fight ON!
