Before we get too excited ...
Heritage Hall confirmed today that Pete Carroll and Rick Neuheisel have discussed bringing back the tradition of allowing both teams to wear home jerseys ... however there is "nothing official or final yet."
Although both coaches would like for this to happen, USC reps say to check back in early December.

"USC reps say to check back in early December"
Huh? The game is Dec. 6th. 2008. You mean to tell me this question won't be settled until right before game time? IT would appear the NCAA will allow the change, at least according to this rule change made in 2007 to article 1-4-3-a, as I read it::
Contrasting Colors
ARTICLE 3. a. Players of opposing teams shall wear jerseys of contrasting colors, and the visiting team shall wear white jerseys. White jerseys may be worn by the home team when the teams have agreed before the season. Players of a team shall wear jerseys of the same color and design.
Add: “EXCEPTION: Light colored jerseys, instead of white, are acceptable if jersey colors of the teams are of contrasting colors. Home teams are required to make any changes necessary.”
Since Neuheisel wore the Powder Blue of UCLA when he was their QB, and he is a man of his word, isn't this a done deal?
Of course, Tim Tessalone, USC Sports Information Director, still doesn't think the USC Song Girls merit their own listing on the USC Traditions page. the USC Marching Band is there; so are mascots Traveler and George Tirebiter. Even the Notre Dame Shillelagh is listed, but the Song Girls are buried under the Trojan Spirit banner. So, I guess the caution about making the jersey change is to be expected.
And on that note, this news flash: Truman Beats Dewey!
