USC Slip-n-Slides Past Cal

Bootyturner

USC escaped with a 24-17 victory thanks to a huge performance by Chauncey Washington and some big plays on defense. That means the Rose Bowl (or maybe the Fiesta Bowl) is still a distinct possibility for the Trojans, because Ohio State lost and Oregon can control its own destiny to the BCS championship game.

We'll have more reaction to both football and basketball tomorrow. In the meantime, you can always get the full story on the game from Gary Klein and can check out some of the photos below.

Oregon is going to have a tough time against Osu and arizona and ucla But trojans have to play ASU & UCLA its going to be some very good football and the team that holds on to pac-10 title will be a tough team to beat in bowl.

the whole thing is preposterous...USC is ranked behind teams that dont play the same schedule. They have two losses with their quarterback out or injured. Give us a playoff. If those people can't find a way to make money out of three weeks of playoffs then they are truly retarded.

24-23; 28-21, etc. etc.

OK everyone; ah one ana 2:
"We're Number Eleven; we're number eleven; we're number eleven."

Of all the top 5 or 6 teams, Oregon has the easiest route, playing at home against OSU, which the home team usually wins. LSU will have to play through the SEC, probably against Georgia. Kansas and Missouri will play against each other in the last game of the season to determine who wins the Big-12 North, and play possibly Oklahoma. West Virginia still has to play against Cincy and UConn.

I think the Ducks play for the National Championship, and Dixon wins the Heisman, and if USC can win against UCLA and ASU, USC will be in the Rose Bowl against Ohio State. That's not a bad game at all.

I think it's time the PAC-10 become the PAC-12 by inviting either the combo of Hawaii / BSU, BSU/Idaho, CSU/Colorado, BYU/Utah, and set up a North/South with a championship.

This will broaden the support for the PAC, increase revenue, and provide an extra game at the end of the season for all of us to watch!

Anyone else got a combo they think would work?

24-23; 28-21, etc. etc.

BSU doesn't have anything in common with any of the PAC-10 schools;
Hawaii would never work because television isn't interested in the time zone difference. You need media markets to make money (nothing happens until someone sells something). Enter San Jose State (San Francisco ADI) and georgraphic rivalries with Cal and Stanford; enter San Diego State (San Diego ADI) and geographic rivalries with USC, UCLA and Arizona State.
Fresno State would work, though less attractive, since Fresno is the 54th ADI; and media buyers at best only buy through the 50th market, if that. The hit on San Jose State and San Diego State is their "small-time" school image. Its bad enough with the name calling between UCLA and USC, imagine the name calling between USC and Cal versus San Jose State.
Colorado? They would rather get Colorado State into the Big 12;
and the Big 12 wants to dump Baylor (only non-state school).
Of course, if the Pac-10 wants to get real smart: add four schools,
Fresno State, San Diego State, San Diego State and UNLV.
Now, you've got your 800 pound television attention-getting gorilla.

24-23; 28-21, etc. etc.

Edit to above: "add four schools:
Fresno State, San Jose State, San Diego State and UNLV."

After the trOJans have to give back some of the championship trophies because of housegate, they'll have more room in Heritage Hall to display their OJ Simpson memorabilia. As they slide off into the sunset, UCLA will rise from the ashes of the Dorrell era to reclaim its rightful spot as the dominant LA college team. The trOJans don't deserve to be ranked at all.

Gerrrg

Only a ruined bruin could come up with a convoluted diatribe full of sour grapes.

Pac-10 titles
UCLA: 11
USC 24

National Championships
UCLA: 1
USC: 11

Only a Bruin could come up with such lofty dreams.
