USC Goes on Hunger Strike
The revolution will not be fed.
The executive leadership of USC's student government (both undergraduate and graduate) is spearheading a boycott of concessions at this week's USC-UCLA game to take a bite out of profits. According to the organization, 100% of concession sales benefit the Coliseum.
That could send a message, and give the Coliseum Commission a taste of what it would be like without the Trojans.
The move is in response to stalled negotiations between the University and the Coliseum over a long-term lease. USC is threatening to move its games to the Rose Bowl.
The Coliseum is a public facility and, as such, is owned by the people (i.e., you). If you want to voice your concern to the people responsible for managing the facility on your behalf, USC has set up a website.
Visiting Bruin fans not inclined to share their home stadium in Pasadena are encouraged to participate in the boycott. Word is being spread via online networking sites, e-mail and public announcements (potentially at upcoming rallies and other sporting events before the football game).
Remember that bacon-wrapped hot dogs sold outside the stadium are still kosher safe ... let's just say that's not crossing the picket line.
Sadly, Daniel Hackett may go an entire year without eating solid food at the Coliseum.

Relish this gathering of weenies.

I really like the idea of boycotting the concessions.
I also love the poster. Looks like the photo I took of last year's UO game in the background (which, because its under a CC license on Wikipedia, has appeared all over the place)

Boycott the Coliseum concessions (the guys in the maroon tops and paper hats), but don't boycott the entrepreneurs in the pop-ups that ring the stadium, like the Hawaiian chicken skewers and the kettle corn folks. They have to pay the Coliseum the same space rental no matter how much they sell. The main concessions are run by a big corporation - they can take the hit and the workers get paid no matter what, and they can put pressure on the Coliseum. Don't hurt the little guys! Buy their stuff instead!

They're not all bad. Some people on the Coliseum commission are nice people, die hard trojan fans, and don't want to see our team walk off the stadium anymore than the students and alumni do. A hunger strike is interesting, BUT SPREAD THE WORD TO UCLA AS WELL, no UCLA students want us to go to the rosebowl anymore than we do. It could actually be the first time we agree on something.

I noticed much shorter lines at the concessions during the game so the boycott (or the weather) was effective.
