I asked USC Sports Information about celebrities on the sideline and, for obvious reasons, they couldn't go into too much detail. I get the impression there's a lot of situation-by-situation decisions. What I did confirm was that there are several school officials who can authorize people to have sideline passes. That includes celebrities. Suge Knight was obviously there last weekend, and many people will remember Snoop wearing a LenDale White jersey on the sidelines a couple years ago. Will Ferrell, Henry Winkler, and George Lucas are regulars. There may also be politicians and business leaders there who may not be as recognizable.
I couldn't believe it when I saw Suge Knight, a convicted felon and gangmember, standing and chatting it up with SC players on the sideline. Who the heck gave him a pass? He seemed especially enamored with Chauncey Washington and vice versa. Granted Chauncey is not the "sharpest tool in the shed", but surely someone on the USC staff should have brains enough to see that his presence is not a smart thing. Suge Knight can only cause trouble for USC and its players. Someone at USC needs to wake up!
Suge Knight on the sidelines; and we wonder why there is a bhru-ha about Reggie Bush's "arrangement" with Mr. Lake. USC Football is dirty. How many
current and ex-gang members are on the USC roster? This is USC's idea of neighborhood outreach. It's a long long way from a Roger Staubach going to The Naval Academy to a O. J. Simpson going to USC. Which diploma do you want in your wallet?
I think the gentleman (Suge Knight) was there to show support for his team. Why is it that all you people can do is hate on the guy, Hell anyone of can make mistakes in our lives, there is no need to convict a man that has already served and paid his debt to society. Example : If any of you smoked pot once in your life does'nt make you a weedhead Right! So therefore give the man a chance. Don't hate because he built one of the most powerful African American Owned record labels to ever comeout of California. Maybe he intimidates you?If so don't be such a pussy and step to man like a man and you will be surprised with the outcome, that could be a blessing that could be apart of your children's children to come.
Adam Rose learned about the highs and lows of USC athletics while going to school. As a freshman, he watched the football team crash to the bottom of the Pac 10. By the time he was a senior, he was in the stands for a National Championship. In between, he liked to argue points as a member of the Trojan Debate Squad. Nowadays, he's just looking to tell a good story. He is currently Sports Editor for LAist, where he covers a wide range of local action. He can also be seen weekly on KNBC 4's News Raw. Adam manages special events in the sports community when he isn't participating himself (he staggered through the LA Marathon and can often be found on local soccer fields). If you have a question about the Trojans or just want to give him a piece of your mind, email: adam@laist.com.

O. J. shows up; seems to be no problem.
It's just USC. Drive by football.
What's your point?
